Recipe card using distress inks....

Today I am preparing for my distress ink class at Stamping Bella. I can hardly wait to share my love of those inks to all that come tomorrow. I think they will be hooked for sure! I am sure with all the fun we will have, we will all be a little hungry and need a little treat to tie us over. So I baked some Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins for all. And of course....I HAD to make a recipe card!
Just bought a Penny Black image last week and stamped this little "Flutter-bye" up, using VersaFina Onyx Black ink. My album is still quite empty...so more recipe cards to come!

This summer I am going to have another class making these recipe cards, at Stamping Bella! I think this will be alot of fun..sharing old time favourite recipes and then making them into keepsake recipe cards. A recipe booklet that would be so fun to receive. You should see the ones I had...lots of scribbled recipes on old pieces of paper.

I want to thank-you all for your sweet comments. They mean so much to me. I know how busy we all get and it is so hard to find the time sometimes to visit blogs......so thank-you!

summery card.....

There is only one thing on my mind and that is warm and sunny days! But the weather here in Ontario is not co-operating...it is very cold. I actually heard we may have a little flurry activity tomorrow. So with that said I am going to just ignore it all and just keep making summery cards! These stamps are from the Lockhart Stamp Co., they are some of my most favourites.

I thought this stamp set was perfect for a card and another recipe card that can be added to my growing recipe album. I am so thrilled to be getting that done...then I hope to be moving onto my scrapbooking albums, something I have totally neglected. Not right...I have sooo many memories to get into an album before I forget all the little things I need to remember to say in my albums!

The sentiment for this card is from the papertrey stamp set "A day at the Beach". Oh I so love that saying! This is a girl that LOVES summer! I keep trying to convince hubby to move to the Carribean or even Arizona where the heat is dry, no humidity! One day...one day! Do they have scrapbooking stores in the carribean? LOL

Well..have a wonderful Friday...I hope the weather is warm were you are! Blow those breezes our way PLEASE!

pot o' Orchids....

Good Tuesday to all....
Here I have made another Mother's Day card with lots of glitter added. I bought this stamp called pot o' Orchids for Lulu at Stamping Bella a couple of weeks ago and wanted to make a card using it for Mother's Day. Sir Stamp Alot has a challenge this week " Butterflies and Blossoms" so I think I am going to put this card in their challenge!

My inspiration for this card came from a pot of Orchids I bought yesterday at the grocery store for my Mother-In-Law! I took a picture of the blooms for you so you could see how pretty they are!All week I have been trying to finish up my recipe book, so I made another recipe card inspired by my card...I just stamped the image right onto the card and coloured away with prismas pencils and added lots of glitter of course!

Have a wonderful day, and thank-you for taking the time out of your day to visit!

Off to the beach....

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
I was checking out the Challenge Blog "Anyone for Anya" and they have a great challenge this week: LOTS OF LAYERS, they want to see dimension on your cards. So I have chosen to layer up my Beach Card...I popped the surf board as well as popped the background papers!

I found this picture which I absolutely love. I wish it was my cottage by the lake.... I found this was going to be were my inspiration would come from. I love soft pastel blues and soft beiges.... it was sooo me!

I actually remember when we were kids at my grandmothers cottage we learned how to tie a sailors knot....so I wanted to place it on my card somehow! What do you think! Here is a link to make this knot.

Now I have been working on my recipe booklet so I thought what the heck, lets make a matching recipe card! Before you know it, my recipe book will be done! I used MS beach punch from last year to do the bottom, and my life perserver is from Magnolia. I sponged some clouds in the background of the recipe card too!

Have a wonderful day....and thank-you so much for coming and visiting!

some more recipe cards.....

Welcome to the first day of May...do you find this time of year you are pulling out all the fun recipes to do for summer cookin'? Well if you saw my messy recipe book you would know it was time to make up a nice recipe booklet that would be a little more organized! I love this time of year, our grocery store starts to bring in the locally grown fruits and vegetables which in my opinion are so good. Next year my project is a veggie garden...for sure!
At Stampers Dream I purchased this binder which you can doll up the way you like, so I brought out my favourite October Afternoon papers and used my new stamp set "Cookin Up Memories"
also from Stampers Dream! I love this binder as it comes with 4x6 recipe card sleeves which really protects your cards from any mess.

This recipe is great for those really hot days of summer.....for this recipe card I used Papertrey's stamp set "Day at the Beach". I had lots of fun with this stamp set. I used the little lime wedges to stamp up the background and then used my tulip glass and coloured it with the copics....then stamped the icecubes with a white stamp pad, sprinkled with some glitter just to give it that ice look. I think it worked ok!

Now what is summer without time by the bonfire! So you have to have smores for sure. I used the Stampin Up stamp set " Under the stars". This one I loved doing...I tried to make the marshmellow look, gooey and a little roasted. I used liquid applique on the marshmellow and used the my heat gun to heat it up to give it that puffy look...added a little copic marker to the top and voila...a cooked marshmellow!
It's a little early here for the peaches to come. But this recipe is one of my favourites. I used the Papertrey stamp set " Vintage Picnic".
Well that is all so far I have done, but I am on a mission to get alot more done for my booklet.
Have a wonderful weekend! Thank-you so much for popping in to visit, I so appreciate you taking time out of your day to come!
I have entered this post into two challenges, suggested by Lisa Jane. Thank-you Lisa Jane for the idea! I have never entered into these challenges and thought what a great idea! I am entering into the Papertake Weekly, which is something different and One Stop Crafts Challenge which is anything but a card!
I also want to thank WinterWonderland for being chosen as Top 5! I so appreciate it!

A recipe card....

Oh boy did my house smell just wonderful yesterday. I made Carmel Cinnamon Coffee Cake from a recipe a ol friend gave me a couple of years ago. I have been wanting to get started on my new recipe binder which holds 4x6 recipe cards....and you can store them in plastic sheet protectors within the binder. Great for protecting your recipe cards from the mess going on in your kitchen! I have to thank Denise so much for giving me all her inspiration from her recipe cards and the go to site for the recipe card binder!!!

The stamped image is from the "Cookin' Up Memories" stamp set. I then used Justrites stamps to do the "Made with Love". That is one thing I just love about the Justrite stamps you can customize it just say anything you like. My recipe binder which I am going to post once I have it all done (hopefully this weekend) you can find here.

Here are a few little photos off my freshly baked Coffee Cake! Thank-you Denise for sharing all your wonderful recipe cards! Well I am off to try and finish up some more of my recipe cards so I can share them with you soon! Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

Shortbread Recipe Card....

I am so sorry to be posting so late! I had so many things to do today! But as promised here is my last recipe card for this week! This is one of my favourite Christmas cookies...Shortbread!
How can you go wrong with shortbread! Again..whenever I have a chance to bring Tilda along I try to! So after a great day of cross country skiing, Tilda is going to enjoy some hot chocolate and some homemade cookies!

I ran a strip of white cardstock thru the cuttlebug with swiss dots and then ripped the top half of the cardstock to resemble Tilda crosscountry skiing thru the snow. I placed some glittter on the top of the snow drifts. Then coloured Tilda with copics, cut her out and placed her on my recipe card! Hope you have enjoyed my recipes... now I am off to try the Just Magnolia challenge, this week it is masking! Oh boy...this should be fun!

Candy Cane Cookies- Recipe #4

As promised..here is my Candy Cane Christmas Cookie recipe. I pulled out the Taylor Expressions stamp for this one and paper pieced the hat, mitts, socks and birds using the Jolly by Golly line of paper! Very simple card today! I tried to take a picture of my cookies...before the kids started to sample!
Directions: Beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. Add flour and baking powder. Beating until blended. Add peppermint to taste. Divide dough into 2 equal portions. Add red
food colouring to one half. Roll one small ball of white dough into pencil shape and one red dough
into pencil shapes. Wrap the red and white to form the shape of a candy cane!
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden on the sides!

I also tried my hand at something a saw in a scrapbooking magazine...I thought it was so cute! I took the package of gum and drew a snowman face right onto to the package! I had to fiddle a little to figure it out as there were no directions...darn!
The only thing I have not done yet was attach a cute little tag to the front! Just doll it all up any way you like!

I hope you all have a great day...and the sun is shining were you are! It is a dull, rainy kind of day here..but that is ok...I hear our weekend is suppose to be beautiful.
Thank-you so much for all your wonderful comments. I really do appreciate your comments so much!

Snowball Truffles...

As promised here is recipe No. 3...now be warned this one is not a low fat recipe!
This is my snowball truffle recipe...that when finished look like little snowballs!
This one takes a few more ingredients but if you like white chocolate and coconut flakes...this recipe is for you! Now what is a snowball truffle recipe card without Tilda! I had to use one of my Tilda images for this one! Lots of glitter on the snowball and around the recipe!

Directions:
In a bowl, add and heat the cream, butter, extract and 8 ounces of the white chocolate in microwave at med. power at 30 second intervals. Make sure to stir in between to avoid scorching. Continue on 30 second intervals, stirring until chocolate is smooth and melted. Fold
in the sugar. Cover bowl and pop into the refrigerator for about 1 1/2 hours.
Place a cooling rack over 1 baking sheet. Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the inside of another backing sheet. Melt the remaining chocolate in the microwave. Take out the cooled and semi hardened truffle mixture. Using a tablespoon scoop out enough to make a ball. Lay the ball onto the rack. Continue the process until you have about 16 truffles!

Using a pastry brush, "Paint" on the melted chocolate and place on parchment paper. Now sprinkle your truffles with coconut. Continue painting and sprinkling until you are done!
Refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Hope you enjoy this recipe! Tomorrow it is homemade candy cane cookies!

Christmas Recipe Week...

Happy Good Monday to all....
This week I am going to trying something a little different. This time of the year I start to do all my Christmas baking. I usually make a batch of cookies a day and freeze them so that by Christmas I have an assortment of treats! So this week I thought I would make a recipe card for each cookie I make this week! How does that sound! Today I actually included the picture of the cookie! I was a little disappointed with the icing...I had a hard time making them actually look like perfect little snowflakes!

For this recipe card I used my Karen Lockhart stamp to place in the middle of my Just rite stamp!

I hope this recipe is something that you enjoy making as much as I did!

I have one problem...I would love to cover each one of my recipe cards with a clear envelope to protect them from use. Does anyone know were I can purchase clear envelopes to cover my recipe cards!

Have a great day! I'm off to make "Chocolate Truffles".
