Holiday Wreath...

Just Magnolia has a great sketch to follow for their challenge! I just received some new additions to my family of Magnolia stamps so the timing was perfect for this little Tilda to
make an appearance on a card! Actually I was dying to colour up this one! I took a Merry Christmas stamp and just stamped it on white card stock for my background and then coloured Tilda with lyras, cut her out and placed her on my background. Has anyone ordered the Winter/Christmas 2009 Magnolia kit? I have and I am very anxious to receive it.

For the berries on the wreath I did some French knots using embroidery thread. I really love doing that, I think it gives the wreath a little dimension.

Home for the Holidays...

First off..I want to wish all our friends south of the border a Happy Thanksgiving!

Have you ever come up with your card ideas in the middle of the night and wake up the next morning excited to put it all together? I think I am going to have to put a piece of paper with a pencil beside my bed so when I come up with ideas they are there for me the next day! I have been making cards for Christmas the last few weeks that I want to send out to some friends...and here is the one that I came up with last night. I am quite happy with this vintage look on this card. I used papertreys stamp set Communique Curves and just love it!

My grandmother taught me so many crafts such as sewing, needlepoint, quilting, knitting and crochet and I am so glad that she did! I have used a French Knot technique for the wreath. I thought it would just give the card a real homemade feel too it. I used rustic cream cardstock and sponged the edges with brown chalk. I am loving this paper! I ran the snowflake template
thru the cuttlebug to the top of the card!
I know my card is very simple...but heck..that is just me! All about simplicity when making 50 or so cards!LOL

I hope you all have a great day!

Happy Birthday to Hubby...

Today is my hubby's birthday so last night I put together a card for him. Poor guy..he has to put up with me not being able to make anything but cute! I used this Elzybells image and coloured with Lyras and Primas. I tried to make the couch look like plaid using the pencil crayons..I think it turned out ok. Now this is not typical of my husband to be reading and falling asleep on the recliner...he works sometimes 7 days a week and sometimes I think he should just take a nice needed break! Very deserving he is of that! So Happy Birthday Bruce and I hope you have a great day! I'm off to make Chocolate Cake...now this is not a request from the hubster but from my son! Good choice bud!

Nordic Christmas Tags...

I find that I am so inspired this time of year by pictures in Quilting Magazines! They have all the quilts displayed with all the homey Christmas fabrics... I am especially drawn to the Nordic prints...your reds and creams! So after being to the grocery store this morning and looking at the quilting magazines I came home totally inspired! I wanted to make my own tags this year. I am going to buy some plain red wrapping paper and some big wide cream ribbon and attach my newly made tags. I used Papertreys Snowfall stamps which included these gorgeous mittens. I then used the 2009 Holiday Tag Collection and paper pieced the snowflakes on the mitten and used scalloped scissors to scallop the edge! I love buttons, so lots of the papertrey buttons on here!

Supplies:
Ink: Papertrey Pure Poppy
Stamps: Holiday Tag Collection
Snowfall
Ribbon: Papertrey-cream
Martha Stewart-white/red
Punches: Martha Stewarts snowflakes & Leaf
Buttons: Papertrey
It is so nice to get these all done. I now have to finish off quite a few Christmas cards as they have to go over seas the beginning of December! I also have a quilt to finish for someone special this Christmas! Can't mention any names as she checks out this blog!
Have a great day...and thank-you so much for all the wonderful comments each and everyone of you makes on my blog. When I started this blog and saw all the talent out there...I never thought anyone would come and visit mine..so I am so grateful!

Placecard Holders....

Happy Monday to all! Today I tried something a little different. Magnolia Down Under Challenge is Christmas Decorations/card. So I thought I would put Tilda on some placecard holders.
Now for this challenge I did not put names on yet, I will do that later. But you could put the names in the corner of the circle if you like!

I went to our local dollar store and bought Binder Clips and then tied a papertrey ribbon around each one. Cut a piece of cardstock to fit the bottom with Happy holidays punched out. Then I stamped four different images of Tilda on a circle. Chalked the edges just to give it that vintage look that I love so much. I coloured each Tilda with copics and placed glitter to each one just to give it that sparkle!

I am off to do some Christmas cards that I really want to complete by the end of the week. Before you know it December will be here. When do you usually mail off your Christmas cards?
I like to send them off by the first of December...especially the ones going to the States and over seas!

Hope you are all enjoying your Saturday! This weekend is our towns Santa Claus Parade... this means the Christmas season has officially begun! I had better get some more Christmas cards going! I actually ordered some Papertrey stamps to do alot of my Christmas cards! I can hardly wait..as I have this idea for my cards this year!

Shortbread Recipe Card....

I am so sorry to be posting so late! I had so many things to do today! But as promised here is my last recipe card for this week! This is one of my favourite Christmas cookies...Shortbread!
How can you go wrong with shortbread! Again..whenever I have a chance to bring Tilda along I try to! So after a great day of cross country skiing, Tilda is going to enjoy some hot chocolate and some homemade cookies!

I ran a strip of white cardstock thru the cuttlebug with swiss dots and then ripped the top half of the cardstock to resemble Tilda crosscountry skiing thru the snow. I placed some glittter on the top of the snow drifts. Then coloured Tilda with copics, cut her out and placed her on my recipe card! Hope you have enjoyed my recipes... now I am off to try the Just Magnolia challenge, this week it is masking! Oh boy...this should be fun!

Candy Cane Cookies- Recipe #4

As promised..here is my Candy Cane Christmas Cookie recipe. I pulled out the Taylor Expressions stamp for this one and paper pieced the hat, mitts, socks and birds using the Jolly by Golly line of paper! Very simple card today! I tried to take a picture of my cookies...before the kids started to sample!
Directions: Beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. Add flour and baking powder. Beating until blended. Add peppermint to taste. Divide dough into 2 equal portions. Add red
food colouring to one half. Roll one small ball of white dough into pencil shape and one red dough
into pencil shapes. Wrap the red and white to form the shape of a candy cane!
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden on the sides!

I also tried my hand at something a saw in a scrapbooking magazine...I thought it was so cute! I took the package of gum and drew a snowman face right onto to the package! I had to fiddle a little to figure it out as there were no directions...darn!
The only thing I have not done yet was attach a cute little tag to the front! Just doll it all up any way you like!

I hope you all have a great day...and the sun is shining were you are! It is a dull, rainy kind of day here..but that is ok...I hear our weekend is suppose to be beautiful.
Thank-you so much for all your wonderful comments. I really do appreciate your comments so much!

Snowball Truffles...

As promised here is recipe No. 3...now be warned this one is not a low fat recipe!
This is my snowball truffle recipe...that when finished look like little snowballs!
This one takes a few more ingredients but if you like white chocolate and coconut flakes...this recipe is for you! Now what is a snowball truffle recipe card without Tilda! I had to use one of my Tilda images for this one! Lots of glitter on the snowball and around the recipe!

Directions:
In a bowl, add and heat the cream, butter, extract and 8 ounces of the white chocolate in microwave at med. power at 30 second intervals. Make sure to stir in between to avoid scorching. Continue on 30 second intervals, stirring until chocolate is smooth and melted. Fold
in the sugar. Cover bowl and pop into the refrigerator for about 1 1/2 hours.
Place a cooling rack over 1 baking sheet. Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the inside of another backing sheet. Melt the remaining chocolate in the microwave. Take out the cooled and semi hardened truffle mixture. Using a tablespoon scoop out enough to make a ball. Lay the ball onto the rack. Continue the process until you have about 16 truffles!

Using a pastry brush, "Paint" on the melted chocolate and place on parchment paper. Now sprinkle your truffles with coconut. Continue painting and sprinkling until you are done!
Refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Hope you enjoy this recipe! Tomorrow it is homemade candy cane cookies!

Christmas Recipe Week...

Happy Good Monday to all....
This week I am going to trying something a little different. This time of the year I start to do all my Christmas baking. I usually make a batch of cookies a day and freeze them so that by Christmas I have an assortment of treats! So this week I thought I would make a recipe card for each cookie I make this week! How does that sound! Today I actually included the picture of the cookie! I was a little disappointed with the icing...I had a hard time making them actually look like perfect little snowflakes!

For this recipe card I used my Karen Lockhart stamp to place in the middle of my Just rite stamp!

I hope this recipe is something that you enjoy making as much as I did!

I have one problem...I would love to cover each one of my recipe cards with a clear envelope to protect them from use. Does anyone know were I can purchase clear envelopes to cover my recipe cards!

Have a great day! I'm off to make "Chocolate Truffles".

Joy...

I finally got a chance to sneek into my craft room. Actually I got out of doing the Christmas lights outside. Hubby and my son are outside right now putting them up. So I went into the craft room and hoped their would be some mojo hanging around...so I put the radio on and went to work! Just as I got started the radio station that I had on launched their holiday music! At first I was thinking this is too early...but as I started to pull out the Christmas paper I thought ...this works! Yahooo...Christmas music...Christmas paper, Christmas punches, Christmas images! Can a girl have any more fun then that!

winter wonderland...

I am not to sure were all my creative juices have gone! I really had a struggle with this card. Nothing was working here! I was trying all sorts of different things and it just wasn't working. I have been making an assortment of Christmas cards lately and I really think that my mojo just left the house on this card. This card is for the Just Magnolia challenge! We were to follow a sketch. Thank goodness they gave us the sketch...helps with the thinking process!
Have a great Sunday afternoon..it is raining very lightly here...apparently the sun is suppose to come out! So here is hoping! I am hoping to try and put some Christmas lights up while it is still warm out!

giggle.....

Stamping Bellas challenge this week is ANYTHING GOES..as long as you use a bella image! How fun is that! I couldn't wait to colour up this newly released stamp called "Ella lollipop". She is just so darling I thought! Stamping Bella has also released these adorable definition blocks. I thought I would use it with this little lady! I think these definition blocks will come in handy for my scrapbooking. Something I seriously need to get back too as well!

Snow pals...

Happy Wednesday...we are half way thru the work week! I received this adorable image from a
wonderful blogging buddy and I want to thank her so much! She knows I love ANYTHING with a snowman image...and she hit it on the nail with this image! I had alot of fun with this image. I coloured with copics and with prismas AND LYRAS! I added some liquid applique to make some snow and just decided not to heat it, I thought it looked pretty good without heating it. I added a little glitter to the snow drifts at the bottom. Now the fun part...I just received the 2009 Holiday Tag Collection from Papertrey...saw some hanging snowflakes images and decided to stamp them right on my ribbon using there pure poppy ink! Then to finish the card...I really like to stitch around the edges!

Happy Birthday....

Happy Sunday all! Wow it looks like we are going to have another gorgeous day here! I am hoping to spend some time outside today, maybe put some Christmas lights up!
For me, November and December are very busy months, we have so many birthdays coming up, and Christmas on it's way! I had to make four birthday cards so I used one of my favourite stamps from Karen Lockhart! I ran the background of the card thru the cuttlebug and then used my nestabilities to cut the two circles so I could stamp my image on the one and colour with copics to colour my image. I then added just a little glitter to the flowers.
It sure makes me want spring to come early this year!

Skater girl...

Happy Saturday to all..I am so glad that the weekend is here! The sun is actually shinning and the temps are pretty good! So why am I making a wintery card....Well, I fell in love with Victoria Cases stamps for SCACD called skater.
I thought I would try something different.. I used my circle punch to cut the circle in the card stock and then attached a piece of acetate to the back of it and stamped snowflakes all over it to give it that snowglobe look!

Peeking out the window!

I am so sorry about the quality of my picture...I think the pastel colours that I used on my card just washes out the picture, and the weather is not co-operating here! I tried something different ...I stamped my image and then coloured it and then cut it into cubes. I thought it might resemble a window! I have done this once before with my scrapbooking pictures and I really liked the effect it gave!

happy holidays....

Well here it is such a dull overcast day here in Ontario... So what better then to get some things done around the house...and even slip into the craft room and create a card for the
Magnolia-lious site! They have a great sketch to follow this week. I am partial to sketches...this way some of the thinking is done for you!!!! Be sure to hop over and grab the sketch and try your hand at a great challenge.

One of my peeps...keeps telling me..Christine... try to use some embellishments. Now I am such a plain and simple card is the best for me, but no....I have been told embellishments is the way to go! I'm trying...how are the little snowflakes working for embellishments and they are punched out with wonderful already glittered paper from Doodlebug Designs..LOVING THIS PAPER!
Well I hope this works for the challenge !

Have a great Wednesday!
